Welcome to the game 'Polyworld'.
It is a one player game where the aim is to visit every screen by moving
a probe (using joystick).
By pressing the fire button whilst moving accelerates the probe to a higher
top speed (likewise it can also decelerate you faster). The probe has momemtum
and must be controlled carefully.
Obsticles you encounter are:
Jumps - Must be jumped at high speed
Sloping Walkways - You must apply power to counteract gravity whilst
traversing the angled walkway.
Trampolines - Falling on a trampoline allows you to bounch across
gaps
High levels - Falling from a great height results in smashing
the probe
Nothingness - Falling off the edge of a screen may result in
falling to infinity if there is no adjacent screen.
Smashing the probe, or falling off into space results in losing 10 seconds of
time. Exploring a new screen gives you 5 seconds (maximum of 150 seconds)
Pressing the 'M' key displays a map of the 'world, the red squares are
un-mapped screens and yellow squares are mapped screens.
The game ends when you are out of time, or you have mapped all the
screens (pretty unlikely!), or your computer crashes (pretty likely if its
a PC. Why do PC's crash every 5 minutes, then take 3 minutes to reboot and
then have to check all their memory every time they are reset? Checking the
memory once a year is good enough. Anyway! back to the game...)
If enough people like it, I might do a constuction kit so other people can
design their own levels.
To copy this game somewhere else you need the following files
* polyworld
* polyworld_game
* polyworld.doc (please keep this file with the game)
